The 54th edition of the Sehsüchte International Student Film Festival, one of the biggest film festivals for young filmmakers in Europe, will take place from 23rd April to 27th of April 2025 in Potsdam. It offers up-and-coming filmmakers from all over the world a platform to present their works to a broad audience and come into contact with the industry. Founded in the 1970s as a showcase for young filmmakers in the GDR, Sehsüchte has established itself over the decades as an internationally important festival and has become an integral part of the Berlin and Brandenburg cultural landscape.
Sehsüchte sees itself as a place of encounter and creativity, as an event of cultural diversity and a celebration of cinema, today as well as tomorrow. The festival is planned, organized and implemented entirely by students of the Filmuniversität Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF. The direct connection to the renowned film university enables a unique exchange between young talents, media practice and academia.
The motto of Sehsüchte 2025 is beyond. It is intended to put emphasis on the
diverse aspects of the festival that go beyond the ordinary and connect both the
past and the future of filmmaking.
beyond embodies the idea of building a bridge between nostalgic elements and
modern innovations. The focus is on the synergies that arise when different
generations and perspectives, young filmmakers and industry experts, come into
contact with each other and learn from each other.
beyond reflects the diversity of the stories that are to be told at Sehsüchte. In an
increasingly polarised social climate, we position ourselves as willing to listen to
all voices and remain open. Regardless of origin, financial means, level of
education, gender and our other differences, we want to offer everyone a chance
for a platform. We want to think our festival beyond boxes, borders and barriers.
With beyond, we invite our audience to broaden their own horizons and explore
new ideas and concepts. The aim is to overcome cultural, geographical and
ideological boundaries in order to create a platform for a diverse narrative.
Our program offers local and international artists a screen, allows us to experience (un)known perspectives through a variety of cinematic-aesthetic forms of expression, and promotes discourse between underrepresented and established film regions.
With a festival campus centered in the "Schiffbauergasse", Sehsüchte opens up a space for networking and discussion between students and industry experts. We see ourselves as a young festival with a clear stance: only through an honest exchange at eye level can the industry's challenges be overcome, an awareness of ecological and social resources be created and, above all, an open culture of film be shaped. Let us embrace the current transformation and actively shape the resulting potential, the future of film.

Bašta Fest is an international short fiction film festival held in Bajina Bašta, Western Serbia. It is an annual event that is taking place during the first weekend of July and it lasts for four days. Due to the profession of the founders (actors Jovan Jelisavčić and Maja Šuša), the festival's main point of interest is a collaboration between directors and actors. We believe that focusing on the quality of that joint artistic effort will have a positive impact on the positioning of Bašta Fest among short film festivals. Bašta Fest is of great importance for the decentralization of culture since it has brought diverse film, music and off program to this beautiful region. One of the priorities of the festival is to promote the incredible natural beauty to a large number of visitors. Nevertheless, our primary goal is to convert this festival into an exciting cultural oasis, which supports local and international young artists, putting emphasis on short fiction films with authenticity. The main selection is a competition short film program, while two films are screened as a part of non-competition, special program every year - one during the opening and one during the closing ceremony. The last to be screened is a Serbian debut feature film, chosen by Bašta fest team as the most successful one in the previous year. The entrance to all screenings at Bašta is free of charge, while they are always being held under the open night skies. There are currently two official festival locations: Borići park and lake Perućac.
Main Program (International competition), which will regularly feature films from all over the world from among a director’s first and second feature films. The idea is to promote new filmmakers who are making a debut or are only just starting their careers.
This program’s goal is to identify and promote relatively unknown filmmakers’ new film stories, giving them a chance at the beginning of their film careers.
The idea for this film festival emanated from the dire need for a wider space to present debut films by many new filmmakers from the region and all over the world.
The International Film Festival KineNova Skopje, therefore, includes activities such as promotion, support, incentives, exchange of experiences, and film awards. It is a venue for new filmmakers to showcase new stories and offer a fresh perspective of humanity and the world we live in.
The festival and the city of Skopje have the honor to be the meeting point for new filmmakers and a springboard for their respective career paths.

In the ancient Greek myths, ambrosia is the food or drink of the Greek gods, conferring longevity or immortality upon whoever consumed it. It was with ambrosia Hera "cleansed all defilement from her lovely flesh", and with ambrosia Athena prepared Penelope in her sleep, so that when she appeared for the final time before her suitors, the effects of years had been stripped away, and they were inflamed with passion at the sight of her.
The consumption of ambrosia was typically reserved for divine beings. In the Odyssey and the Iliad, Homer uses the word ambrosia for three things: the food of the Olympians, a salve used to treat corpses, and as a perfume to cover up the smell of uncured seal skins. Regardless of all this confusion, the word is now used metaphorically to mean anything so fragrant, so delicious that it seems divine "delightful food and drink".
Food and drink is a necessity of life, right? We are what we eat – mentally, physically, emotionally, and even spiritually. We live in a world of extremes with food starvation on one side to gluttony on the other. And yet there are those who live with abundance at their fingertips and the means to healthy and delicious meals yet chose to feast on empty nutrition. Small things can and do bring joy. Foodie loves both the simplicity and complexity of food and drink, respects food, eats mindfully, give thanks for every bite or sip, curious to know how food is prepared, preserved, and planted, always on the lookout to learn, grow, share, and serve.
Ambrosia Food & Drink Film Festival solely dedicated to films focused on food and drink, as well as those films, where food and drink is an important part of the synopsis (or may be for one memorable scene). We admit short and feature films, animation, documentary, web series, music video, how-to cooking and recipe video and commercials with, or about food/drink, cuisine, cooking, baking, restaurants, cafes, pubs, eating, drinking, tasting and/or meals, wine, tea, coffee and soft drinks, delicious dishes from upmarket restaurant with famous chef, fast food, vegetarian food, healthy food, simple food and street food.
