Berlin Sci-Fi Filmfest was the first genre-specific Sci-Fi film festival in Germany. Berlin is a metropolis that welcomes a better future, even as it parties and celebrates the fall of the old order in post-apocalyptic converted industrial spaces. Berlin Sci-Fi Filmfest is looking for thought provoking science fiction that makes audiences think, feel, and reflect on our place in the universe and our future.

We are introducing a new competition this year: “Stories That Would Made Great Sci-Fi Films”. We will also be expanding our competitions to include Science Documentaries. Our goal is to promote cross-fertilization between science, science fiction literature, and science fiction filmmaking.

Towards that end, Berlin Sci-fi Filmfest is planning to be back this year at a new venue—Urania—located at the intersection of lively Schöneberg and upscale Charlottenburg, on Ku’damn, known as the Champs-Élysées of Berlin, two blocks from KaDeWe. Urania is a scientific society founded in 1888 to disseminate the latest advances in science to the public.

Promotional card of Bengaluru International Short Film Festival

You’ve chosen to film. Chosen to put together a visual piece of art if we may say so. Today when anyone with a camera can, in theory, make a film... how will you make your short film stand out? What you intend to do with your film is what the Bengaluru International Short Film Festival is all about. We will be what you create.

After the tremendous success that was BISFF 2023, we are all set to host the 11th edition. Just as every year, this is an attempt to understand the medium a little better and go a little further in inventing new forms of storytelling as filmmakers.

The festival showcases shorts from across the world, creating a physical space for a great audience experience and bringing together a keen audience for the filmmakers. BISFF also exhibits works by past masters who have dabbled in short filmmaking that today is viewed as an art form that needs a unique approach. Additionally, the festival presents talks and panel discussions with leading thinkers and industry practitioners, enabling budding makers to interact with the best in the industry. BISFF also includes hands-on learning experiences in workshops and demonstrations by professionals, putting together an exclusive audience experience and perhaps space for makers to find what they are looking for.

The MALDITO Videopoetry Festival is organising this competition with the aim of making visible two disciplines that, both together and separately, are much more distant and forgotten than we would like them to be. If experience tells us that both disciplines are minority and marginal in large European capitals, let alone the desert in which they find themselves in provincial capitals, where the circuit for their dissemination is practically nil.

We, as lovers of poetry, image and the expressive possibilities of their symbiosis, propose a line of action, encouraging the approach of the general public to the Festival and trying to make it grow from the first edition.

Our wish is that MALDITO reaches as many people as possible, with a growing presence and repercussion in the media and social networks.

MALDITO seeks to vindicate videopoetry as an art that connects people, that transmits feelings and promotes original or different ways of seeing the world, to try to be a grain of sand that makes any kind of visual or poetic art stop being marginal and cursed.(* The Spanish word for damned is MALDITO).

We expand sections by adding International Poetic Film Showcase.
