ELIPSIS Cinematographic Arts and Sciences International Meeting
is a project developed to propitiate the exchange of ideas, experiences and points of view, among students, filmmakers and researchers in the cinematographic field, with the intention of linking the academic and professional perspective in the seventh art within its diversity. The meeting integrates spaces specifically directed to academics or artist, as well as others designated for dialog and collaboration between them.

- International section

1.- ELIPSIS Cinematographic Arts and Sciences International Meeting has the objective of gathering filmmakers, students, and academics from diverse areas from the cinematographic industry, through activities that propitiate the exchange of experiences, investigation progress, projects and films; as well as the integration of a national, international and local guild.

2.- Elipsis International Showcase is organized with the objective of increasing the audience and promoting emerging filmmakers, by programming a diverse offer of national and international films.

3.- ELIPSIS is organized by the Film Arts and Sciences Academy of Hidalgo, a non-profit organization that has the objective of promoting the cinematographic industry in the state of Hidalgo, Mexico.

II.- COMPETITION

1.- International Film Showcase has 5 categories in competition and 1 out of competition:

In competition (only Mexican films):

Hidalgo short films
Mexican narrative short films
Mexican documentary short films
Mexican animation short films
Mexican university short films

Out of competition:

International short films

2.- In competition sections: Short films in digital formats only, 30 minutes maximum duration made by at least 1 Mexican citizen or legal resident crew member. Production date later than January 1st 2022. Projection specifications will be sent to the selected works.

3.- Out of competition: Short films in digital formats only, 30 minutes maximum duration. Production date later than January 1st 2022. Projection specifications will be sent to the selected works.

4.- No one that works at Film Arts and Sciences Academy of Hidalgo may participate In competitive sections

5.- Projects with promotional, publicity or electoral purposes may not participate.

6.- In order to be considered, films should be registered through www.cinehidalgo.org or in any platform: Festhome.com. Inscriptions should be submitted with screeners.

7.- Submission deadline is April 30th 2024.

8.- Films in Spanish should be subtitled in english. Films in english should be subtitled in english. Films in languages different from Spanish should be subtitled in Spanish and english.

9.- Once submitted, films may not be retired.

10.- Exhibition rights won't be paid in any case.

11.- Selected films are eligible for itinerant national and international showcases and will be a part of the Film Arts and Sciences Academy of Hidalgo collection.

12.- Once submitted, participants share their film's exhibition rights and accept all the rules & terms listed in this document.

III.- EXHIBITION

Selection committee will determine the official selection, dates, venues and projection schedules will be informed through e-mail to the selected projects on may 31th 2024 at 11:59 p.m.

IV.- SELECTION AND JURY

Selection committee and jury will be conformed by invited industry professionals, determined by Film Arts and Sciences Academy of Hidalgo and their decision is unappealable.

V.- Awards

ELIPSIS organization committee will send digital laurels to all the selected projects. Winners will get awards that may consist of trophies and/or material prizes granted by our sponsors. Participants are responsible for all shipping expenses, viatics or transportation that this may represent.
